A joke about BBC and Qin Gang, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry

July 4th, 2009

From a routine press conference of  the Chinese Freign Ministry on 1st July

Quentin Sommerville, BBC News. Qin Gang, do you have children?
(laughter) (Qin Gang gave one nod affirmative)
I ask you because a few weeks ago, you asked my colleague whether he had children when he asked a question about Green Dam Youth Escort. And you said that the Green Dam Youth Escort is essential to protect the children of China, and my colleague would of course understand that if he had children. So now that the government has delayed the installation of this software, are the children of China, perhaps…

Study in electronic evidence

March 29th, 2009

These weeks I help my LD with her Master article. My job is to polish the article and translate the abstract into English. It’s a hard work, below is my immature work.

Computer and network technology has been described as more unprecedented than other technologies in the rapid trend of entering into people’s daily life since the 1950’s, and its future development potential can not be easily assessed. The impacts on people’s lives may be even beyond the human other social activity. The spread of electronic data also infiltrates naturally into the crime and the judicial field of countering crime, so…

Best joke in Britan

March 24th, 2009

A Chinese walks into a bar in America late one night and he saw Steven Spielberg.

As he was a great fan of his movies, he rushes over to him, and asks for his autograph.

Instead, Spielberg gives him a slap and says, “You Chinese people bombed our Pearl Habour, get outta here.”

The astonished Chinese man replied, “It was not the Chinese who bombed your PearlHarbour, it was the Japanese”.

“Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, you’re all the same,” replied Spielberg.

In return, the Chinese gives Spielberg a slap and says, “You sank the Titanic, my forefathers were on that ship.”

Shocked, Spielberg replies, “It was the…

South Africa 2010 Lottery Scam

March 24th, 2009

Today, I just received a suspicious mail from saorg_00015@msn.com in my hotmail account. It seems like a scam. The title of this mail is “CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOUR E-MAIL WAS SELECTED BID-SA 2010@LOTTERY“. It is about 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP held in South Africa, but I am not very interested in this, as first I do not have enough money for the round-trip ticket, and second, I believe that you will get nothing without pay anything.

Below is the detail of this mail. Please pay attention to this type of scam.

FROM THE DESK OF THE PROMOTIONS COORDINATOR

Avoid Email Bomb

March 15th, 2009

. Be very careful to select your receiptance of your email, no more but no less.

. Be very careful to "reply all".

. Never use BCC.

. Never leave "Subject" blank.

. When you reply an email but change the topic, change the "Subject" as well.

. When you report something, please make sure the receivers have the same background as you.  Or you need to address as clear as enough.  Not just a simple words and then after 100 replies, the receivers still cannot have the full picture.

. Don’t just response "yes, I got it", "thanks"  unless very…

How to migrate the RSS subscriber between Feedburner and Feedsky

March 4th, 2009

Feedburner is the leading provider of media distribution and audience engagement services for blogs and RSS feeds. It was the most famous RSS feeds provider in the world. But before 2008, it’s not accessible for Chinese people as the GFW controled by China government. The Chinese bloggers who used Feedburner’s service were not able to distribute their articles through Feedburner. They had to find another way.

Feedsky is another RSS feeds provider which is hold by some Chinese. It provides the services which are mostly like Feedburner. And its servers are placed in China so it will not be effected by the GFW.

So…

Economic Crisis

February 25th, 2009

News said that Nortel has recently laid off around 3000 people again, representing 10 percent of its global employees, Microsoft announced that there might be 5000 layoffs of people in the following 18 months, even the Google that has always been freely also started to tighten their belts. Worked in this industry all these years, I have never been so afraid like this year. Finally, I also have the opportunity to really feel the economic crisis. Company CEO announced that employees all over the world would have to face a reduction in salary and he takes the lead down by 20% last week. What a poor nobody I am! As the reason of poor performance of our department in last year, we should not count on a normally salary increase this year. I thought that the situation was as bad as it could be, but worse was to follow. Today, the reduction in salary comes true from Email to bank account number. But I heard that in Europe, the company gets encountered obstacles, these measures must get the consent of the staff to work properly implemented. Of course, whether this is false news or not, for us, does not really matter. Since workers in China will not have fair legal measures to protect you, there will not be militant labor union organizations to support you either, therefore, no matter how it decreases, at least I am still working.
